Leigh Kolodny-Kraft Joins Calais Foundation Board
Leigh Kolodny-Kraft never liked one size fits all regimens. She formed her private therapy practice, The Kraft Group, Inc., out of a need for customized and compassionate treatment for children, adolescents, and adults. As the founder and executive director of The Kraft Group in Florham Park, NJ, Kolodny-Kraft and her team of mental health professionals emphasize the need to customize therapy sessions, whether it’s for individuals or groups.
Her work covers a broad spectrum from helping people overcome addiction to social anxiety, trauma, depression, and other mental health disorders. “While we can’t change situations of the past, we can work together to better understand and resolve life challenges,” she said. “I recognize that to many, change feels unattainable. However, in a nonjudgmental setting, I can work with clients to help them develop confidence and skills to carry out change in a non-threatening way.”Kolodny-Kraft received the 2014 Lora Roe Alcoholism and Drug Addiction Counselor of the Year award from the National Association for Addiction Professionals.
She’s pleased to be part of The Calais Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit that empowers children with special needs at The Calais School and throughout northern New Jersey. The Calais School serves children in grades Pre-K through 12-Plus. “I was impressed with their Animal Adaptive Therapy program that uses service dogs to help students learn and manage their emotions,” Kolodny-Kraft said. “And The Calais School and Foundation don’t take a one size fits all approach to education. Like with my practice, they customize their programs.”“What struck me about the school and the foundation,” she continued, “was the people. They put their hearts into helping others, which aligns perfectly with my practice.
”David Rostan, Calais Foundation Board President, said, “We are thrilled to have Leigh join the Board of the Calais Foundation. I have known her for the past eight years. She is a knowledgeable and caring clinician with a strong commitment to helping children with disabilities. Her clients love her. On the Foundation Board she will enhance our capacity to reach out to children and parents in underserved communities.”
