Treatment Interventions:

Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR)

  • EMDR is form of psychotherapy used to treat troubling symptoms, such as anxiety & panic, guilt, shame, anger, and depression.

  • Desensitization refers to the removal of the emotional disturbance associated with a traumatic memory.

  • Reprocessing refers to the replacement of the unhealthy, negative beliefs associated with traumatic memories, with more healthy, positive beliefs.

Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

  • CBT is a form of psychological treatment that has been demonstrated to be effective for a range of problems including depression, anxiety disorders, substance abuse, and marital problems.

  • CBT treatment involves efforts to change thinking patterns. Learning to recognize one's distortions in thinking that are creating problems, and then to reevaluate them in light of reality.

  • CBT helps clients gain a better understanding of the behavior and motivation of others; using problem-solving skills to cope with difficult situations; and learning to develop a greater sense of confidence in one's own abilities.

Trauma Informed Care (TIC)

  • TIC recognizes the impact of trauma on all aspects of an individual’s life including physical, emotional, and behavioral.

  • TIC is tailored to each client and their specific needs and challenges with the goal of preventing re-traumatization.

  • There is an emphasis on strengths, resilience, and empowerment as a means to build skills to cope with and move forward from trauma.
